RCMP Public Complaints Commissioner to investigate assertions of RCMP
"Coverup" of pedophile sexual abuse involving RCMP officer(s) at Kingsclear
Training School EDMONTON, May 28, 2004-Peter Goldring, Member of Parliament, held a news conference at the Grierson Centre, to discuss the long called for investigation by the RCMP Complaints Commissioner into the assertions of an RCMP "coverup" of pedophile sexual abuse by RCMP officer(s) and others at the former Kingsclear Training School for Boys in New Brunswick.
In attendance was Karl Schneider, who was victimized at Kingsclear, his
mother Simone Winnicky and Edmonton lawyer Casey O'Byrne, among others. Mr. O'Byrne, on behalf of Carl Schneider other Kingsclear victims, has commenced a civil action for damages against the RCMP and former RCMP Staff Sgt. Clifford McCann, among others, for the injuries suffered bv these men during their incarceration as youths at Kingsclear.
Mr. Goldring made the following comments:
The investigation by the RCMP Public Complaints Commissioner is long
overdue.
Peter Goldring said he was particularly disappointed with the inaction of former Justice Minister Anne McLellan, who is now responsible for the RCMP. I met with her privately to discuss particulars, yet her last word to my question in the House of Commons, just before the election call, was that she was going to do absolutely nothing.
Her inaction in the face of such grave allegations amounts to an abrogation of her ministerial responsibilities, for which she should be ashamed.
Kingsclear victim Karl Schneider is Anne McLellan's constituent and she refused to meet with him or his lawyer. The current RCMP Chief Commissioner Zaccardelli was in charge of the RCMP division in New Brunswick that included Kingsclear at the time of this horrendous sexual abuse and later coverup. Zaccardelli is reported to have known about former Staff Sgt. Clifford McCann being identified by multiple witnesses and complainants as a pedophile, yet he was never charged. Why?
Peter Goldring held this news conference again at the Grierson Centre,
because it is at Grierson that the notorious Kingsclear pedophile guard Karl
Toft is serving the last part of his term of incarceratio and where he is on
unexcorted day passes.
In early 2001, the RCMP was prepared to lay more charges against Toft, which
would have put him away for life, as a dangerous sexual offender-yet no charges were laid. Why?
At his parole hearing, Karl Toft admitted that he still fantasized about having sex with young boys, but that he could somehow control his fantasies if out in the community. Karl Toft has also never talked about his partners in pedophile sexual crime.
