"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun control. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future." --- Adolf Hitler, 1935  [See also Paul Martin and the "Liberal" Party of Canada]

"Liberal" Party once again pouncing on aberrant shootings by criminals to grab the guns of law abiding Canadians. Now they even have the Provincial governments of Quebec and Ontario promoting their specious propaganda.

Conservatives Ignoring Provincial Premiers' Calls for Sensible Gun
Laws
- June 19, 2007

OTTAWA - Despite demands by the governments of Quebec and Ontario for
stronger and more effective gun control measures, the Conservative
government is preparing to debate a bill that would effectively scrap
Canada's gun registry, a tool used by front-line police over 5,000
times daily, said Liberal Justice Critic Marlene Jennings.

"Over the past two weeks, the Premiers and Attorneys General of Quebec
and Ontario have both called on the federal government to back down on
their plans to scrap the gun registry and instead strengthen Canada's
gun laws," said Ms. Jennings. "It is shameful that this government is
ignoring them."

Canada's Firearms Registry is supported by the Canadian Association of
Chiefs of Police and the Canadian Police Association, which have both
said that the registry makes our communities safer.

Since the registry has come into force, Canada has witnessed a
dramatic drop in the number of homicides by rifles and shotguns. Over
19,000 firearms licenses have been refused or revoked since the
Firearms Act came into force, and over 10,000 affidavits have been
provided by the Canadian Firearms Registry to support the prosecution
of firearms-related crime and court proceedings across the country.

"This government put police representatives on the Judicial Advisory
Councils, and told us they value the opinions of front-line police
officers. Why won't they listen to the police when it comes to gun
control?" said Ms. Jennings.

Instead, the Conservative government has stacked the Firearms Advisory
Council almost entirely with people who have publicly called for less
gun control in Canada, including some who have ties to the US-based
National Rifle Association. One member of the Firearms Advisory
Council even wrote a letter to the Ottawa Sun in the aftermath of the
tragic shooting at Virginia Tech University claiming that if more
students had been armed, the tragedy could have been prevented.

[Which is exactly what likely would have happened. Unfortunately,

this "no guns" policy, that only disarmed responsible students and left

them defenceless against someone under police care and custody, by

court order, went into effect shortly before the shooting. Prior to this, it was

common practice for qualified students to carry their guns to school, all

without incident. Those students were subsequently deprived of their

inalienable RIGHT to self-defence, while police waited for hours OUTSIDE

the school, till the shooting stopped, and now over 30 are dead.]

"This is a government that seems to have developed an allergic
reaction to the truth, and the truth is that the gun registry is being
used by police every day to protect our communities," said Ms.
Jennings.

"The governments of Ontario and Quebec have both called on this
government to stop their ideologically driven fight against gun
control in Canada and to work constructively, as partners, to get guns
out of our schools and off our streets."

Liberals admit 2004 election advertisement meant to shoot you in the face!

There's a message in the federal Liberal campaign ads, and they want you  to know that not only is it not subliminal, they are proud of it!

The issue concerns allegations recently brought to light that the "gun" shown in their US - style attack ad against Steven Harper, actually IS fired right in your face.

"It is indeed there and it's not subliminal," said Steven MacKinnon, deputy national campaign director, who blamed "the rumour" on "members of the Conservative war room."

The flash image, however, only exists in ONE FRAME of the ad - which works out to one-30th of a second -- and shows a bright muzzle flash before the ad cuts to a shot of factory smokestacks.  That means the flash is three times faster than the proverbial 'blink of an eye'. Puzzling indeed, if [as the Liberals freely maintain] the "flash" was fully intended to be seen.

It's clear from the evidence that they went with the briefest exposure possible, said an expert with an advertising agency that wished to remain anonymous. "With standard video, which runs at approximately 30 frames per second, if you want to be sure someone sees something in your presentation, you certainly don't put it in only one frame, that is just absurd".

Despite the evidence, Liberals remained shockingly unrepentant about the ad, and didn't seem concerned about the negative reaction.

Steven MacKinnon said "people upset by the muzzle flash should be".  MacKinnon stated to an Ottawa newspaper reporter that "Mr. Harper seems to pine for a U.S.-style gun culture,"  but didn't elaborate on what he meant by such a vague and deliberately inflammatory statement.

In fact, the US states that have the tightest gun control laws also happen to have the highest rate of criminal gun activity; whereas those states that still issue conceal and carry permits [Vermont makes no requirement] have less overall crime, and the rate of accidental shooting is significantly lower for permit holders than police officers.

Conservative communications officer James Flynn, stated the Conservatives "only want to scrap the Liberal boondoggle gun registry" and favour "laws to prevent guns from ending up in criminal hands".

"We're not for limiting legitimate gun owners such as hunters," he said.

Ethics guidelines prohibit the use of subliminal messaging, but the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council says it has never had a case involving a Canadian media organization.

Despite the fact that the ad's "muzzle flash" is only in one frame, the C.B.S.C. said the definition of subliminal is "subjective enough" that it is "unlikely to apply to the Liberal ad, anyway".
