Are you saved?
Two Powers Presentation

Does the Holy scripture indeed say that Jesus/Yeshua is GOD (YHWH) ?

A reasoned examination of scripture gives us a clear answer to that question.

Zec 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.  KJV

1Co 10:2-4 And all were baptized to Moses in the cloud and in the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank of the spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

1Jn 5:7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.

First things first... where did the name "Jesus" come from?

Actually its a translation artefact resulting from the process of converting His Hebrew name "Yeshua" into Greek, then into English - rather than translating directly from Hebrew to English. The English translation of Yeshua [יהושע ] should be Jeshua. [Read more here] The name Yeshua in Hebrew means Yahweh's salvation, while the name 'Jesus' holds no intrinsic meaning in English.

What's in a name? See BABYLON'S TROJAN HORSE....

Bible Code reveals name of Messiah...

One of the most astonishing features is that virtually every one of the clearly Messianic passages of the Old Testament contains the name Yeshua encoded within the text at intervals such as every 2nd letter or every 20th letter, etc. As an example, Yacov found the name Yeshua embedded in the text of Isaiah 53:10 that prophesied about the atoning sacrifice that Christ made for our sins on the cross two thousand years ago. "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand" (Isaiah 53:10). [.....]

"Mathematicians calculated the probability that this astonishing combination of letters spelling "Yeshua is My Name" would occur by random chance in Isaiah is only one chance in 50 quadrillion, an inconceivable number" [Full article]

Paul's writing in Hebrew links names Yeshua and YHWH.

Paul was born in Tarsus, an Aramaic speaking city, and raised up in Jerusalem as a staunch non-Helenist. He wrote his Epistles to core groups of Jews at various congregations in the Diaspora to hold doctrinal authority and to be used as liturgy. There can be little doubt that he wrote these Epistles in Hebrew or Aramaic and they were later translated into Greek. In fact textual evidence also suggests that the four Gospels were likewise originally written in Hebrew. In hundreds of places the Greek sentence structure betrays a Semitic influence and implies a translation from the Hebrew.

This understanding of the Hebraic or Aramaic source of Paul's writings are clear when examining key verses written by Paul which establish the divinity of Christ.

From the Aramaic a much broader understanding of "Lord" is revealed.

Romans 14

8 Because if we live, we live to our Adon and if we die, we die to our Adon. And whether we live therefore or whether we die, we belong to our Adon.
9 Because of this also the Messiah died and is alive and is raised that he might be YHWH to the dead and to the living. 1O Now why do you judge your brother? Or why also do you treat your brother with contempt? For all of us will stand before the bema of the Messiah.
11 As it is written, I live, says YHWH. Every knee will bow to me and every tongue will confess me.
12 Therefore every man from us will give an account for his nefesh to Eloah.
13 Therefore let us not judge one another, but rather determine this: that you will not place a stumbling stone before your brother.
14 For I know and am persuaded by YHWH Yeshua that there is not a thing that is defiled from itself. But to him who thinks concerning a thing that it is unclean, to him alone it is unclean. HRV

In verse 14 Paul calls the Messiah, "YHWH Yeshua". All Christians call Christ Lord, Paul makes it clear that Christ is both Adon (Lord) and YHWH (God of the OT and the Messiah)

There are several passages in 1 Corinthians that indicate that Christ is YHWH. The most compelling is in 1 Cor 8:6

1 Corinthians 8

6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. KJV

Because of translating the original into the Greek before translating it into English, the meaning is not clear what Lord means. This is not the case in the HRV.

1 Corinthians 8

6 But to ourselves, [there] is one Eloah, the father, from whom [are] all [things] and by whom we are, and one YHWH, Yeshua the Messiah; by his hand [are] all [things] and by his hand we are also. HRV

This passage makes it very plain that Christ is YHWH, the creator of all things.

Paul makes it even clearer in Chapter 12.

1 Corinthians 12

3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. KJV

1 Corinthians 12

3 Because of this, I make known to you that there is no one by the spirit of Eloah and says that Yeshua is accursed. And neither is a man able to say that YHWH is Yeshua except by Ruach HaKodesh. HRV

Here Paul says that one must have the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) the spirit of Eloah (God) to understand that YHWH is Yeshua (Jesus).

Paul makes his point without any possibility of misunderstanding in 1 Corithians 15.

1 Corithians 15

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. KJV

1 Corithians 15

45 So it is also written, Adam, the first man, became a living nefesh; and the last Adam, a quickening spirit.
46 But the spiritual was not first but the natural and then the spiritual.
47 The first son of man* was dust that was from the earth. The second man was YHWH from heaven.
HRV

*An Aramaic idiom stressing mortality. Adam was not a literal son of man.

Here Paul states in language, that cannot be interpreted otherwise, that Christ was YHWH from heaven.

Philippians 2

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. KJV

Philippians 2

5 And think in your nefeshot that which also Yeshua the Messiah [thought],
6 Who as he was in the likeness of Eloah did not consider it presumptuous to be an equal of Eloah?
7 But he emptied his nefesh, and took on the likeness of a servant, and was in the likeness of the sons of men and was found in fashion like a son of man.
8 And he humbled his nefesh and became obedient unto death, even the death of the gallows.
9 Because of this, Eloah also highly exalted him, and gave him a name which is greater than all names,
1O That at the name of Yeshua every knee will bow that is in heaven and on earth and that is under the earth,
11 And every tongue will confess that Yeshua the Messiah is YHWH, to the glory of Eloah his Father. HRV

One last scripture that warns of men who would try to rob you by their doctrines.

Colossian 2

8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. KJV

Colossian 2

8 Beware lest any man should rob you by philosophy and by empty deception according to the doctrines of the sons of men, and according to the elements of the world, and not according to the Messiah. 9 in Whom dwells all the Fullness of the Godhead bodily. HRV

Want more evidence that the "New" Covenant was originally written in Hebrew? Consider the following:

John 5:2: "Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches." Notice that the Greek says here, as in every one of the quotations below, "hebraisti," (obviously), "Hebrew."

John 19:13: "When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Yeshua forth, and sat down on the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha."

John 19:17: "And He bearing his stake went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha."

John 19:20:" Many of the Hebrews then read this title: for the place where Yeshua was nailed was near to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin."

Acts 21:40: "And when he had given him permission, Saul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand to the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spoke to  them in the Hebrew language, saying..."

Acts 22:2: " (And when they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)"

Acts 26:14: " And when we had all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking to me, and saying in the Hebrew language, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the goads."

Revelation 9:11: "And they had a king over them, who is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew language is Abaddon, but in the Greek language he hath his name Apollyon."

Revelation 16:16: "And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Har Meguido (Mount Meguido)/'Armageddon'."

Notwithstanding the internal proofs in the New covenant itself, those from the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Talmud and those of Josephus, there are coins and inscriptions from the time of Yeshua that nail "the Aramaic coffin" shut once and for all, for those who are after facts, and not biased, anti-Semitic-laden opinions. Says one book: "The evidence provided by coins is also important in trying to evaluate the linguistic situation in the time of the Messiah. Yaakov Meshorer, curator of the Numismatic Department of the Israel Museum, and its numismatic expert, has listed 215 Jewish coins in his catalogue. Of these, 99 have Hebrew inscriptions, only one has an Aramaic inscription! From the fourth century B.C. (later Persian Period) until the end of the Bar-Cochba Revolt in 135 A.D., the entire history of Jewish coinage, only one Jewish coin, minted during the reign of Alexander Jannaeous (103-76 B.C.) is inscribed in Aramaic."

"At Masada, Herod`s stronghold overlooking the Dead Sea, archaeologists excavated from 1963 to 1965 under the direction of Professor Yigael Yadin. The epigraphical evidence is staggering: fragments of 14 scrolls, over 4,000 coins, and more than 700 ostraka (inscribed pottery fragments) in Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin. Here too, the ratio of Hebrew to Aramaic exceeds nine to one."

In addition, there are over 5366 manuscripts of the New Covenant in Greek, each differing from the other and containing several hundred variants. However, in each one of these manuscripts there are idioms which are almost meaningless in Greek or in any language except in Hebrew! How can such a thing be explained unless it is because the original was Hebrew?

There are many of these Hebraisms, one of the most common of them being "Son of man". What does "Son of man" mean in English, Spanish, German, in any language? Absolutely nothing! The expression "Ben Adam" means literally "son of Adam" and by extension "son of man", and "man", Adam being of course the first of mankind. In any street corner in Israel you may hear "here comes this Ben Adam", meaning "here comes this man." This example, which occurs no less than 92 times in the Tanak (the Hebrew Scripture) and 43 times in the New Covenant (Cruden's Concordance) is obviously the same Hebrew idiom.

It is said that the New Covenant was written in Koine Greek, "common Greek," because it is found to be a poor kind of Greek. When we find as many of these Hebraisms as there are there, we begin to understand that it is not Koine Greek written in the substratum of the text, but a Hebrew original which was almost literally translated into Greek, a process resulting in making it sound like some poor or inferior form of Greek.

The true name of our Lord was "Yeshua". According to any Hebrew-English dictionary, "Yeshua" means: "Yahweh is salvation, victory, deliverance."

Yeshua not called "only begotten" Son in original text!

The innovated concept of Yeshua (Jesus) being the "only begotten son" of the Father was developed in the fourth century by Jerome into the Latin Bible (c. 347-420).

This original word 'monogenes' used by the Apostle John, means "one of a kind" or "unique", and was changed as the result of church heresy to unigenitus (meaning only begotten) in the fourth century. John used 'monogenes' to acknowledge Yeshua as a "unique" or "single kind of Son" but not the only begotten son of God.

As we can see from a study of the "Devine or Heavenly Council" there are actually many "sons of God" in Yahweh's creation, but Yeshua (Jesus) is distinctly and UNIQUELY separate from these 'created eternal sons'.

More scriptures declaring Yeshua (Jesus) is fully Godhead.....

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name YESHUA: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Mt: 1: 21-23 KJV

¶ God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Hebrews 1: 1-3

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

Hebrews 1: 8-12

1 ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 ¶ And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 1: 1-5

Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us

51 ¶ Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
54
Yeshua answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58
Yeshua said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but
Yeshua hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
John 8:51-59

26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32
Yeshua answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

John 10: 26-33

26 ¶ And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Yeshua, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29
Yeshua saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
30 And many other signs truly did
Yeshua in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that
Yeshua is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

John 20: 26-31

¶ Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Colossians 1: 12-23

1 ¶ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

1 John 1: 1-4

17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Yeshua Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord
Yeshua Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Jude 1: 17-25

16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 ¶ Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

1Tim. 3:16 4:1-2

23rd Psalm, declared "The LORD [YHWH] is my shepherd ..." Jesus said of Himself, "I am the good shepherd" (John 10:11)

Isaiah 60:19 says, "...the LORD will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory." Likewise, Psalm 27:1, "The LORD (YHWH) is my light ..."  Jesus said, "I am the light of the world" (John 8:12).

Isaiah 42:8 says, "I am the LORD, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another ..." Jesus asked in prayer that the Father would share His eternal glory: "O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was" (John 17:5).

Yeshua showed himself to be divine in other ways. [Reference Gospel of Mark]

When Yeshua healed one paralyzed man, He said to him, "And seeing their faith, Yeshua said to the paralytic, Child, your sins are forgiven to you." (Mark 2:5). The scribes who heard this reasoned He was blaspheming, because, as they rightly understood and asked, "Why does this one speak such blasphemies? Who can forgive sins except God only? " (verses 6-7).

Responding to the scribes, we see written: "And instantly knowing in His spirit that they reasoned so within themselves, He said to them, Why do you reason these things in your heart? Mar 2:9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, Your sins are forgiven you; or to say, Arise, and take up your cot and walk? Mar 2:10 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority upon earth to forgive sins, He said to the paralytic,
Mar 2:11 I say to you, Arise, and take up your cot, and go to your house. Mar 2:12 And immediately he arose and took up his cot and went out before all. So that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, We never saw it this way. " (verses 8-12).

These scribes knew fully that Yeshua was claiming an authority that belonged to God only. The LORD (YHWH) is the One pictured in the Old Testament as the one alone who forgives sin (Jeremiah 31:34).

Yeshua/Jesus referred to Himself many times as I AM in the following scripture passages:

  1. I AM the bread of life (John 6:35).
  2. I AM the light of the world (John 8:12).
  3. I AM the door (John 10:9).
  4. I AM the good shepherd (John 10:11).
  5. I AM the resurrection and the life (John 11:25).
  6. I AM the way, truth and the life (John 14:6).
  7. I AM the true vine (John 15:1).

In Isaiah we find reference to the LORD (YHWH) referring to himself as  "the first and the last" and in the following passages in the Revelation of Yeshua Christ he again refers to himself in this manner.

Isaiah

Who has worked and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I, the YHWH, the first, and with the last, I am He. Isaiah 41:4

6 Thus saith the YHWH [LORD] the King of Israel, and his redeemer the YHWH [LORD] of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Isaiah 44:6

and again......

12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

Isaiah 48:12

Now compare the following....

The Revelation of Yeshua Christ

And from Yeshua Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
9 ¶ I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of
Yeshua Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Yeshua Christ.

Revelation. 1: 5-9

7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
8 I am Alpha and Omega,
the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Rev 1:7-8

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Rev. 1: 17-18

8 ¶ And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

Rev. 2:8

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God [YHWH].

Rev. 19: 12-13

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Rev. 21: 3-7

Wouldn't you like to know this forgiving Yeshua, and receive the FREE GIFT of salvation and eternal life?

Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by Grace are you saved, through Faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast."

If you really want to be Born Again, into the Eternal Family of God through Yeshua Christ, pray this prayer, from your heart:

"Lord
Yeshua, I want you to come in and take over my life right now. I am a sinner. I have been trusting in myself and my own good works, and in other things. But, now I place my trust in you. I want You as my own personal Savoir. I believe You died for me. I receive You as Lord and Master of my life. Help me to turn from my sins and follow You. I thank you for Your offer of the FREE gift of eternal life." Amen

2Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Ezek. 18: 32 "I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, says the Lord God; so turn and live"

Ro 10: 8 The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Yeshua, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

John 14:1 ¶ Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 ¶ And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6
Yeshua saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Contrary to the "Da Vinci Code", and other popular fables of similar vein given much

media attention, there never was ANY contention within the early Christian Church about

the Divinity of Yeshua of Nazareth. The early church fathers and first-century writings

attest to the Deity of Yeshua, and that the church supported and believed that.

For example, at the first council of Nicaea in 325 A.D., representatives of the early church

voted 316 to 2 to affirm the belief in the divinity of Yeshua Christ.

"We believe in one Lord, Yeshua Christ, the uniquely-begotten Son of God,
God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten, not
made, one in being with the Father. Through him all things were made"
(Creed of Nicaea [A.D. 325]).

Historical Evidence supporting both the life of Yeshua, and belief in his

Divinity..... Just a small sample..

Oldest Christian chapel in Holy Land may cause prison relocation

In an unprecedented move, Israel's top archaeological body is recommending that the Megiddo Prison be relocated due to the recent discovery of the most ancient Christian place of worship ever found in Israel on the grounds of the prison.

The ruins of the Christian prayer hall, which was located inside a Roman villa, date back to the first half of the third century CE, making the chapel the earliest place of Christian worship ever unearthed in the Holy Land, excavation director and Israel Antiquities Authority archaeologist Yotam Tepper said Tuesday.

The site in question, which is located between an ancient Jewish village dating back to the Roman period and what used to be a Roman Army camp, was uncovered last year after authorities sought to expand the prison grounds and prisoners stumbled upon the ruins during routine excavations.

The building, which is thought to have belonged to a Roman officer, has a rectangular hall with a mosaic floor bearing geometric patterns, a medallion decorated with drawings of fish - a symbol widely used in early Christianity - and three Greek inscriptions.

One inscription names an army officer who contributed toward the paving of the floor, the second is dedicated in memory of four women, and the third mentions a woman who contributed a table or altar to the God Jeshua Christos.

Seal with image of Yeshua found in Tiberias

Two embassy volunteers find lead seal from sixth century in Tiberius depicting Yeshua on one side and a cross on the other side - David Hacohen  (11.28.05)

A lead seal from the sixth century depicting Jesus was recently discovered in excavations by the Antiquities Authority in the Old City of Tiberias.

The other side of the seal has a cross with an abbreviation of the name “Christos.”

This is the first time a seal with the image of Jesus has been discovered in excavations in Tiberias. A number of similar seals have been found in Caesaria, which in ancient times was the capital of the province.

Both sides of the coin

The rare seal was discovered by two volunteers, employees of the American and British embassies.

Professor Yizhar Hirschfeld of the Hebrew University, who is in charge of the dig, notes that the seal shows an important church official.

"The church here was stronger than we thought. This also shows that Judaism and Christianity met here and lived together in harmony,” he says.

In February of this year, a tenth century C.E. coin was discovered in the excavations in Tiberias that depicted Jesus on one side, and had the Greek inscription “Jeshua the Messiah, King of Kings” on the other.

Professor Hirschfeld belives that the coin was issued in Istanbul in honor of the first millennium. He notes that the fact that the Jesus coin was found in a dig in Tiberias indicates that the Crusaders continued going to Tiberias even in the Muslim period (the tenth century C.E.).

Tiberias is the only site in Israel where such coins have [so far] been found.

Hostile Witnesses for the Resurrection of Yeshua - by Steve Hinrichs

Historic proof of Yeshua from a sample of Pagan Sources

Palestine of the first century has been referred to as an unimportant
frontier province in the Roman Empire. Those provincial governors assigned
to that region of the world were often thought to have received hardship
posts. Those who wrote the history of Rome were in the upper strata of
Roman society and usually had a personal dislike of Orientals, disapproved
of their religions and looked upon their superstitions as very un-Roman.(2)
This partially accounts for the little trickles of information that comes
from their pens about the Christian religion. They wrote about it only as it
forced its way into the mainstream of their view. Yet what they did write is
proof positive that Yeshua Christ was both a real person and that he had made
such an impact upon society that the Roman world found it increasingly
difficult to disregard him.

1. Thallus

Our initial witness makes a contribution of a unique sort inasmuch as he had
no intention of making Christianity to appear genuine. To the contrary,
Thallus, a Samaritan-born historian who lived and worked in Rome about A.D.
52, wrote to offset the supernatural element which accompanied the
crucifixion.

Though the writings of Thallus are lost to us, Julius Africanus, a Christian

chronographer of the late second century, was familiar with them and quotes

from them. In a comment on the darkness that fell upon the land during

the crucifixion (Mark 15:33), Africanus says that "Thallus, in the third book of

his histories, explains away this darkness as an eclipse of the sun."(3)

Africanus stated his objection to the report arguing that an eclipse of the sun

cannot occur during the full moon, as was the case when Yeshua died at Passover

time. The force of the reference to Thallus is that the circumstances of Yeshua' s

death were known and discussed in the Imperial City as early as the middle

of the first century. The fact of Yeshua's crucifixion must have been fairly well

known by that time, to the extent that unbelievers like Thallus thought it

necessary to explain the matter of the darkness as a natural phenomenon.

Will Durant observed that Thallus' "argument took the existence of Christ for

granted."(4) Neither Yeshua nor the darkness at his death were ever denied

as factual. Durant summed up the matter of Christ's historical existence for

himself by saying that it never occurred to the early opponents of Christianity

to deny the existence of Yeshua.(5) Ironically, Thallus' efforts have been turned

into the mainstream of historical proof for Yeshua and for the reliability of
Mark's account of the darkness at his death.

2. Mara Bar-Serapion

F.F Bruce, Rylands professor at Manchester University, tells of a manuscript
in the British Museum preserving the text of a letter sent to his son by a
Syrian named Mara Bar-Serapion. In prison at the time of the writing, the
father pleads with his son to be wise. He illustrated the folly of persecuting

wise men like Socrates, Pythagoras, and the wise king of the Jews, which

the context obviously shows to be Yeshua.

What advantage did the Athenians gain from putting Socrates to death? Famine
and plague came upon them as a judgment for their crime. What advantage did
the men of Samos gain from burning Pythagoras? In a moment their land was
covered with sand. What advantage did the Jews gain from executing their
king? It was just after that their kingdom was abolished. God justly avenged
these three wise men: the Athenians died of hunger, the Samians were
overwhelmed by the seas; the Jews, ruined and driven from their land, live
in complete dispersion. But Socrates did not die for good; he lived on in
the teaching of Plato. Pythagoras did not die for good; he lived on in the
statue of Hera. Nor did the wise King die for good; he lived on in the
teaching which He had given. (6)

6. British Museum Syriac Mss., F.F. Bruce, Yeshua and Christian Origins
Outside the New Testament, p. 31.

Some inaccuracies exist in the letter, says Bruce, about Samos and Athens,
but the references to Christ and to the Jews are undeniably accurate, and
there is no denying the historical existence of the three men mentioned. By
the time this letter was written, Yeshua had already received a place of
recognition equal to the sages of the ages. Yeshua was as real a person of
history as was Socrates and Pythagoras.

3. Tacitus, Pliny, Suetonius

Three Roman officials, who held stature with emperors as well as with the
empire, wrote of Yeshua in such a way as to take his historical existence for
granted. Their writings appeared at the turn of the century.

The first of these, usually rated as the greatest of Roman historians, was
Cornelius Tacitus, who was born about A.D. 52-54. At about the age of sixty,
while writing of the reign of Nero (A.D. 54-68), he told how the Christians
were made scapegoats for the Great Fire of Rome in A.D. 64. It had been
rumored that Nero had himself started the fire so that he could attain to
glory by rebuilding the great capital city in more glorious fashion. When
Tacitus wrote about this, he mentioned Yeshua by the name of Christus:

Consequently, to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and
inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their
abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the
name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of
Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus. (7)

To Tacitus, a pagan who knew little or nothing of Jewish messianism,
"Christus" was more than likely only a proper name; but to him, Christus was
as real as the Roman procurator who executed him.

C. Plinius Secundus, called Pliny the Younger to distinguish him from his
uncle, the elder Pliny, was governor of Bithynia about A.D.112. He often
wrote to the Emperor Trajan asking his Imperial advice on how best to deal
with the problem of the Christians in his province. According to him, they
were causing trouble. In one of his letters, he spoke of Christ as he
reported of some information which he extracted from some Christian girls by
torture, "They were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it
was light, when they sang an anthem to Christ as God, and bound themselves
by a solemn oath not to commit any wicked deed ... after which it was their
custom to separate, and then meet again to partake of food, but food of an
ordinary kind."(8)

7. The Annals and the Histories, 15:44. From Britannica Great Books, Vol.
15, p. 168.

8. Epistles, 10:96.

Pliny seemed to be perplexed by the innocence of the whole matter, and
perhaps to keep from countermanding any governmental policies about
Christians, he thought it best to write to the Emperor before taking any
action.

There is also a testimony to the historical Yeshua from Suetonius, annalist
and court official of the Imperial House during the reign of Hadrian. About
A.D.120, he wrote the Life of Claudius. From this work comes his most famous
statement: "As the Jews were making constant disturbances at the instigation
of Chrestus, he (Claudius) expelled them from Rome."(9) The reason for the
fame of this quotation is due to the fact that Luke, some sixty years
earlier, had recorded this same incident as the reason for the apostle Paul
yoking up with a Christian Jewish couple named Aquila and Priscilla (Acts
18:1-2). Again, the mention of Christ in the historical context is observed
in extra-biblical literature.

After having referred to the above three Roman officials as an evidence for
the actual existence of Yeshua Christ, Durant explains that while these
references prove the existence of Christians rather than of Christ, unless
we assume that Christ did indeed live, we will be driven to the "improbable
hypothesis that Yeshua was invented in one generation; moreover we must
suppose that the Christian community in Rome had been established some years
before 52, to merit the attention of an imperial decree."(10)

9. Life of Claudius, 25:4.

10. Durant, Caesar and Christ, p. 555.

When this evidence is compiled in the company of such an historian as
Tacitus and with Roman officials of the stature of Pliny and Suetonius, it
makes the historical reality of Yeshua as certain as that of any outstanding
figure of antiquity.

FROM JEWISH SOURCES

1. The Talmud

There are two separate books of writings dealing with Jewish law called the
Talmud. The first of these is the Mishnah, which is the Jewish code of
religious jurisprudence. It began to be compiled sometime after the
destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 and was completed about A.D. 200. This
great body of newly codified case law became the object of Jewish study from
which grew a body of commentaries called Gemaras. Together, the Mishnah (the
law book) and the Gemara (the commentary) are called the Talmud. Being
Jewish, suffice it to say, all references to "Yeshu'a of Nazareth" in the
Talmudic writings are unfriendly, but nevertheless sufficient in number to
establish beyond doubt his historical reality.

2. Josephus

The most important references to the historical Yeshua from a Jewish source
is from a former Jewish general turned historian by the name of Flavius
Josephus. In his writings he tells us who he was, what he did, and his own
evaluation of a historian. He wrote of many of the outstanding persons we
read of in the New Testament: Pilate; Quirinius of Syria (during whose
governorship Rome enrolled the Empire for taxation purposes); the Caesars;
the Herods; the Pharisees and the Sadducees; Annas and Caiaphas, who had
Yeshua crucified; Felix and Festus, under whose governorships the apostle
Paul was arrested and before whom he spoke of Yeshua; Yeshua's brother, James;
and John the Baptist.

Most significant is his reference to Yeshua himself in the following words:

And there arose about this time Yeshua, a wise man, if indeed we should call
him a man; for he was a doer of marvelous deeds, a teacher of men who
receive the truth with pleasure. He won over many Jews and also many Greeks.
This man was the Messiah. And when Pilate had condemned him to the cross at
the instigation of our own leaders, those who had loved him from the first
did not cease. For he appeared to them on the third day alive again, as the
prophets had predicted and said many other wonderful things about him. And
even now the race of Christians, so named after him, has not yet died out.
(11)

11. Antiquities, 18, 3.3.

All attempts to discredit this reference to Yeshua as having been dressed up
by a Christian copiest have failed. The reference is included in all of the
manuscripts of Josephus, including the copy from which the fourth-century
historian, Eusebius, read and quoted.

At the close of his excellent book offering evidence for the historical
reliability of the New Testament, F.F. Bruce has observed, Whatever else may
be thought of the evidence from early Jewish and Gentile writers ... it does
at least establish, for those who refuse the witness of Christian writings,
the historical character of Yeshua himself. Some writers may toy with the
fancy of a 'Christ-myth,' but they do not do so on the ground of historical
evidence. The historicity of Christ is as axiomatic for an unbiased
historian as the historicity of Julius Caesar. It is not historians who
propagate the Christ-myth'' theories. (12)

12. F.F. Bruce. The New Testament Documents. p. 119.

FROM THE NEW TESTAMENT

Whatever reasons may be given for accepting the testimonies of Josephus or
of Tacitus or of any other writer from antiquity as reliable histories, to
be fair and consistent, must be equally applied to the New Testament
writers. Fairness demands that we give at least the same consideration to
the New Testament books as we would to any other writing from the same
period. All of the New Testament writers were contemporaries of Yeshua. Five
were eyewitnesses, three accompanied Yeshua throughout his ministry, and all
of their writings are in remarkable agreement. In addition to this, their
writings continue to stand the tests of genuineness and historicity. These
New Testament writings are by no means the least of the evidence testifying
to the actual existence of Yeshua as a real person of history. As a matter of
fact, if the New Testament books were the only single source from antiquity
which presented to us the life of Yeshua Christ, that would be more than
sufficient proof of his historical reality. It is stated in the Encyclopedia
Judaica (Jerusalem) that the fact that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John have
written of Yeshua's life is conclusive proof of his reality. That admission
from unbelieving Jews should satisfy the most skeptical doubter as to the
trustworthiness of the evidence.

H. G. Wells rejected the supernatural element in the gospels, but
nevertheless used them as his source material for writing about Yeshua and
the spread of Christianity in the first century. He admitted that the gospel
accounts carried the conviction of reality and felt compelled to say of
Yeshua, "Here was a man. This part of the tale could not have been
invented."(13) Will Durant wrote, "That a few simple men should in one
generation have invented so powerful and appealing a personality, so lofty
an ethic and so inspiring a vision of human brotherhood, would be a miracle
far more incredible than any recorded in the Gospels."(14)

The fact of the historical Yeshua of Nazareth, as supplied to us by sources
both friendly and hostile, is seen to be an indisputable matter. It is
conclusive that there was a real Yeshua, a man of outstanding character and
of unique personality and ability, whose life and teaching truly
"constitutes the most fascinating feature in the history of western
man."(15) We can be as certain of this fact as we can of any matter of
history.

What did Daniel predict in the Bible about the coming of the Messiah?

In 538 B.C. Daniel wrote, "So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree

to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks of years

and sixty-two weeks of years" (Daniel 9:25).

The time period between these two events would be 69 weeks of years. This was predicted

538 years before Christ.

When was the "decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem" issued?

Artaxerxes, a Persian king, ascended to the throne in 464 B.C. Therefore, his twentieth year

would be 444 B.C.

Nehemiah, the Jewish cupbearer to King Artaxerxes, was deeply concerned with the reports

about the ruined condition of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 1:1-4) and thus petitioned the king: "Send

me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' tombs, that I may rebuild it. So it pleased the king to

send me" (Nehemiah 2:5,6). The exact date of this decree to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem

is given: "in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king" (Nehemiah 2:1).

The Jewish calendar month was Nisan, and since no day is given, it is reasonable to assume

that the date would be understood as the first, the Jewish New Year's Day. Hence, in the

Julian calendar, the corresponding date would be March 5, 444 B.C.

This was the day on which the decree was issued to restore and rebuild Jerusalem.

When did the "Messiah the Prince" appear?

Yeshua had previously, on numerous occasions, forbidden his followers to make him known as

"the Messiah". He would frequently do miracles and tell the disciples not to tell anyone who

had done the miracles because his "hour has not yet come" (John 2:4, 7:6).

However, on monday March 30, 33 A.D., when he entered Jerusalem on a donkey, he rebuked

the Pharisees' protest and encouraged the whole multitude of his disciples as they shouted,

"Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord". And Yeshua said, "If these become

silent, the stones will cry out" (Luke 19:36-44, shown below).

Luk 19:36 And as He went, they spread their clothes in the way.
Luk 19:37 And when He had come near, even now at the descent of the Mount

of Olives, all the multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with

a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,
Luk 19:38 saying, Blessed is the King coming in the name of the Lord! Peace

in Heaven and glory in the highest!
Luk 19:39 And some of the Pharisees from the crowd said to Him, Teacher,

rebuke your disciples.
Luk 19:40 And He answered and said to them, I tell you that if these should be

silent, the stones would cry out.
Luk 19:41 And as He drew near, He beheld the city and wept over it,
Luk 19:42 saying, If you had known, even you, even at least in this day of yours,

the things for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes

Luk 19:43 For the days will come on you that your enemies will raise up a rampart

to you, and will surround you, and will keep you in on every side.
Luk 19:44 And they will tear you down, and your children within you, and will not

leave a stone on a stone because you did not know the time of your visitation.

How was Israel to have known the time of their visitation? From a literal understanding of

Daniel’s prophecy. In fact, this prophecy, along with Christ’s fulfillment of every other first

coming Messianic prophecy proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Yeshua was Israel’s

Messiah. Many Jews have come to faith, over the years, as a result of being challenged by

this prediction about the time of Messiah’s coming.

This was the day on which Yeshua was publicly declared the Messiah. Thus was the end

of the 69th week..... followed shortly by Yeshua giving up his life "for the lost sheep" as

preparation for the 'age of grace' which is coming to a soon close, followed by the beginning

of the last week.

Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have

nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the

city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the

end there will be war; desolations are determined.

[For more detailed examination of the "gap" between the 69th and 70th week, please click

the links at the bottom of this article entitled "The seventy weeks of Daniel -parts 1-3.

Problems arise through the various calendars used by different cultures to catalogue

specific dates, so there are different calculations from different researchers. For eg..

There are several theories that pinpoint the exact date of the exact year that Yeshua rode into

Jerusalem. The dates that we have seen of other people's research is April 6, either April 6,

32 AD, or April 6, 33 AD. (And, again, the difference in the year depends on whether the

20th year of Artaxerxes was in 444 BC or 445 BC). And, some scholars have claimed that

there are exactly 173,880 days from March 5, 444 BC to April 6, 33 AD (and, 173,880

days from March 5, 445 BC to April 6, 32 AD). ]

How are the dates calculated in Daniel?

Since Daniel states 69 weeks of seven years each, and each year has 360 days, the equation

is as follows: 69 x 7 x 360 = 173,880 days.

In nothing more than a simple mathematical demonstration, the number of days in the period

from March 5, 444 B.C. (the twentieth year of Artaxerxes) to March 30, 33 A.D. (the day Yeshua

entered Jerusalem on the donkey) will be determined at this point. 444 B.C. to 33 A.D. is 476

years (1 B.C. to 1 A.D. is only one year). 476 x 365.2421879 (corrected for leap years)

= 173,855 days. March 5 to March 30 = 25 days. Total = 173,880 days.

Why does Daniel use "years" of 360 days each?

There is conclusive evidence to show that the prophetic year of the Bible is composed of 360

days, or twelve months of 30 days.

Daniel 9:27 mentions a period of Jewish persecution at the hands of the coming prince who

will make a covenant with that people. Since this persecution begins in the "midst" of the

seventieth week of years and continues to the "end" of the week of years, the period is

obviously three and one-half years.

Revelation 13:4-7 speaks of the same great political ruler and his persecution of the Jewish

"saints" lasting "forty two months". And this period is further defined in Revelation 12:6 as "a

thousand two hundred and three score days", or 1,260 days. If 1,260 days is divided by 42

months or 3-1/2 years, the result is a 30-day month and a 360-day year.

Therefore, it is clear that the length of the year in prophecy is fixed by the Bible itself as

exactly 360 days.

Why does Daniel use the phrase "weeks of years"?

In Daniel's writings in Chapter 9 he used the Hebrew word shabua, which means literally a

"seven", but is usually translated into English as "week of years". To the English ear a week

always means a seven of days, but to the Jews shabua alone always meant a seven of years.

Thus Daniel was literally referring to weeks of years here.

Daniel used the Hebrew word shabua alone when referring to the well-known "week" of years,

a customary usage which every Jew would understand; but in Chapter 10, when he speaks of

the "three weeks" of fasting, he specifies them as "weeks of days" in order to distinguish them

from the "weeks" of years in Chapter 9.

What is the significance of this prophecy?

The exact fulfillment of this prophecy is sufficient to demonstrate the accuracy of Daniel and

also by implication the inspiration of the Bible and the truth of Christianity, because only God

can "declare the end from the beginning" and forecast to the very day "things that are not yet

done" (Isaiah 46:10).

Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: "Where were you when I laid the

foundations of the earth? Who determined its measurements? Who stretched the line upon it?

To what were its foundations fastened? Who laid its cornerstone?" (Job 38:1-6)

And suddenly a great storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves.

But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us!

We are perishing!" But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He

arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So the men marvelled,

saying, "Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?" (Matthew 9:24-27)

Now read about the prophesy revealing the last week of years.

A few months before he died, one of the nation’s most prominent rabbis, Yitzhak Kaduri,

supposedly wrote the name of the Messiah on a small note which he requested would remain

sealed until now. When the note was unsealed, it revealed what many have known for centuries:

Yehoshua, or Yeshua (Jesus), is the Messiah.

John 1:1 describes the Deity of Yeshua in no uncertain terms.

"And the Word was with God." The language is pregnant. It is not merely coexistence with God that is asserted, as of two beings standing side by side, united in local relation, or even in a common conception. What is suggested is an active relation of intercourse. The distinct personality of the Word is therefore not obscurely intimated. From all eternity the Word has been with God as a fellow: He who in the very beginning already "was," "was" also in communion with God. Though He was thus in some sense a second along with God, He was nevertheless not a separate being from God: "And the Word was" --still the eternal "was" --"God." In some sense distinguishable from God, He was in an equally true sense identical with God. There is but one eternal God; this eternal God, the Word is; in whatever sense we may distinguish Him from the God whom He is "with," He is yet not another than this God, but Himself is this God. The predicate "God" occupies the position of emphasis in this great declaration, and is so placed in the sentence as to be thrown up in sharp contrast with the phrase "with God," as if to prevent inadequate inferences as to the nature of the Word being drawn even momentarily from that phrase. John would have us realize that what the Word was in eternity was not merely God's coeternal fellow, but the eternal God's self. (3)

The Beloved Apostle walks a tight line here. By the simple ommission of the article ("the", or in Greek, ho) before the word for God in the last phrase, John avoids teaching Sabellianism, while by placing the word where it is in the clause, he defeats another heresy, Arianism, which denies the true Deity of the Lord Yeshua. A person who accepts the inspiration of the Scriptures can not help but be thrilled at this passage.

John goes on in verse two to reiterate the eternal fellowship of the Father and Son, making sure that all understand that "this one," the Word, was (there it is again) in the beginning pros ton theon, with God. Their fellowship and relationship precedes all else, and it is timeless.

As icing on the cake, John then precludes anyone from misunderstanding his claim that Yeshua is eternally God by writing verse 3. "All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being." One can hardly be more inclusive than that. There is simply nothing that is existent anywhere that was not created by the Word. He created everything. Obviously, therefore, if one can be described as creating everything, one must be the Creator, and certainly not a creation. The Word is the Creator. All people reading John's words would understand that the Creator is God, not some lower being created by God to do the work for Him. By not qualifying his statement, John assured that we could correctly understand his intention and his teaching concerning Christ, the Word. He is eternally God, the Creator.

The Tanakh confirms the identity of the Messiah as Yeshua.

Psalm 22:16:   For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Isaiah 53:4-6  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.   But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:8:   He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

Isaiah 53:9:   And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither [was any] deceit in his mouth.
