Federal Government funding
crap exhibit.
A "contemporary" art gallery in Ottawa supported by federal tax dollars is
staging a multimedia, interactive exhibition dedicated to excrement. The show
(called Scatalogue: 30 years of crap in contemporary art) opens next Thursday
and runs five weeks. The Saw Gallery received a two-year, $72,000 operating
grant from the Canada Council for the Arts.
A media release for the "living, interactive archive" says the exhibition
is "a critique of the conservatism affecting most galleries in the country.
Alliance critic for heritage, Chuck Strahl, says it yet another example of
the "spending of tax dollars that is out of control".
"It's the kind of thing that drives taxpayers crazy. I think Canadians
find that kind of stuff neither poetic nor artistic," said the Fraser Valley MP.
"It takes the old joke objects you buy at the joke store to a new level.
Some people think it's funny to leave imitation crap on somebody's sheets. This
has been left on the taxpayers' hands and I don't imagine
they're going to be too amused."
Among the more than 25 Canadian and international artists included is
Belgium's Wim Delvoye, who recently sold out his edition of freeze-dried,
vacuum-packed "completely biologically correct" excrement at $1,500 US per
baggie.
The common denominator is dung, with the ideas conveyed through painting,
sculpture, photography, multiples, book works, film, video, performance art and
creative writing."
"The Canada Council for the Arts provides an operating grant to the
Saw Gallery and other art galleries across the country, but the money is not
earmarked for a specific project," said Donna Balkan.

Webmasters note: While the federal
government was giving out money for "art" shows on crap; and funding radical
fear mongering feminist groups to produce 'hitlists' on fathers and pro-liberty
websites; funding for shelters for fathers and children was rejected.
The reason for their rejecting the funding?
The government did not feel the taxpayers
would support "further funding" of single fathers and their children. Currently
the federal government funds no shelters specifically for men and
children; all current funding (some 700 million plus) goes to women only
shelters who are running, on average, at ten percent of their capacity.
So now you know where the government places
its priorities.

What can you do? RE-Claim your natural person
status, stop being declared a "taxpayer"
under the law, and send whatever money you desire to a local men's group
that supports equal parenting. Stop feeding the beast!
